(1) To support the clinical research and research training of young psychiatrists.
(2) To support research on serious mental illness and its treatment.
(3) To disseminate educational and scientific information relating to the impact of mental illnesses on patients and their families, with a special emphasis on improving adherence to treatment.
(4) To educate the general public on the cost to society and to the general health care that results from untreated or under-treated mental illness.
